Westat has an immediate opening for a senior research director with substantial experience in child welfare and/or justice or criminology research to conduct both large- and small-scale studies involving a range of program and policy contexts. Responsibilities include working with investigators and study collaborators on the design, implementation, and analysis of a wide range of studies. Work activities include developing proposals, writing reports, designing and directing studies, and managing budgets. Prior work with Federal clients and with mixed-method designs is desirable. A strong background in research and evaluation design and methods, excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, quantitative analytic skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are essential. A Ph.D. in social science plus 5-10 years of post degree research experience or a master’s degree plus 12 or more years of experience is required.
