Academic Coordinator I – Center on the Economics and Demography of Aging, and the Berkeley Population Center Job #JPF00356 Recruitment Period Open Mar 5, 2014 through May 7, 2014 Next review date: April 7th, 2014 Apply by this date to ensure full consideration by the committee Academic Coordinator I, 75% FTE Social Science Matrix Research Coordinator for the Center on the Economics and Demography of Aging, Berkeley Population Center, & Department of Demography Position Overview: This 75% appointment will serve as Executive Director of two research centers in the field of population sciences within the Social Science Matrix at UC-Berkeley. The Social Science Matrix is an organized research unit, which supports interdisciplinary and collaborative research in the social sciences and coordinates research activities for affiliated research centers, laboratories and programs. The AC will support two research centers, The Center on the Economics and Demography of Aging (CEDA) and the Berkeley Population Center (BPC). Job Description: The AC will participate, in collaboration with the Center Directors, in defining the Centers’ research and outreach programs. The AC’s input is especially valuable because s/he combines academic expertise and knowledge of the research community with knowledge of the administrative possibilities and costs of implementation. The AC will support new programs for the Centers, finding new investigators to recruit as members, and suggesting new research possibilities for existing members. • Collaboration with federal granting agencies in designing and carrying out mission of CEDA and BPC. • NIH grant administration- Including annual reporting and assisting with new submissions • Facilitate Intellectual connections among faculty within and between units and disciplines • Coordinate a pilot grant program • Oversee the Centers’ web presence • Plan meetings/conferences • Supervise Administrative Assistant Required Qualifications: • One must hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in Social Science or a related field by the time of application. Preferred Qualifications: • A PhD Degree or equivalent in Social Science or related fields. SALARY RANGE: Fiscal Year salary range $46,644 – $88,800, plus benefits, commensurate with training and experience.
