Mid-September Submit Regular Session(s) topics for upcoming meeting
September 1 Encourage members to recruit new membership by Sept. 30
September 30 Membership year ends, membership counts become basis of next year’s budget
October 1
  • Outgoing Chair sends Annual Report to ASA
  • Send announcement for call for award nominations for to the EO of ASA. Limit call for nomination to 150 words
October 19 End of year membership lists sent to the section chairs.
October 25 Get awardee biographic information to ASA office
Footnotes for publication in the November Issue
October 30 Next Year’s Call for Papers information will be posted on the ASA Website
November 5 Section chairs will be contacted by the Sections Coordinator to review their Awards Information.
November 10 Deadline for bylaws amendments for 2013 election to the ASA Governance Office
November 11 Send in Thematic Session proposal descriptions for 2014 annual meeting
November 15 Recipients of the current Section Awards are announced in Footnotes. This information is available on your section’s awards page at the ASA website.
December 7 On-Line Paper Submission Opens for 2012 Annual ASA Meeting
December 21 Nominations for section officers and council members. Get approval for council. Due to ASA Dec 31.
January 9 2012 ASA Annual Meeting Papers Due
February 3 Final submission date for 2013 annual meeting of session, workshop and other proposals.
February 7 Invited Paper panels are due for 2012 annual meeting.
February 15 Session organizers submit session listings to ASA Meeting Services.
February 28
  • Biographical statements for nominated candidates for section officers and council members due via online system
  • Roundtable session listings due to ASA Meeting Services
March 7 Reception request due to ASA Meeting services
March 31 Select Awardees. Get approval from Council.
Mid-March
  • Coordinate with SAS and SPA re: any co-sponsored efforts
  • Ensure Spring newsletter lists all section activities
  • Orders for special audio-visual equipment due
End of March Scheduling requests (if any) due in ASA Meetings Office
April Voting in 2014 election opens around the 20th. Voting continues until 5:00pm on June 1st
April 26 List of Section Guest Speakers with waived entrance fees due to Section Coordinator.
May 15 Program participants deadline for pre-registration
May/June
  • Plan reception events (giving awards, noting sponsors, any exhibits)
  • Catering requests due
  • Corrections to session listings for Final Program due to ASA Meeting Services
June 1 Section Election results will be sent to Section Chairs. Section Chairs must contact all candidates with results of the election before announcing them to the section.
June 6 Amended versions of bylaws presented to section chairs for verification.
June 25 Deadline for 2013 Awards recipients to be listed in Awards Ceremony Program at the Annual Meeting
Mid-July
  • Publicize Section Activities for upcoming Annual Meeting
  • Inform new officers about section officer orientation
  • Set agenda for Business and Council meeting before meeting if possible
August 1 First estimate of Section Sessions for 2014 Annual Meeting sent to section Chairs.
